{"id":4447,"date":"2016-11-03T21:16:19","date_gmt":"2016-11-03T21:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alt2.minisoft.com\/support\/?p=4447"},"modified":"2020-06-25T14:35:16","modified_gmt":"2020-06-25T21:35:16","slug":"installing-eformz-on-unix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/minisoft.com\/support\/installing-eformz-on-unix\/","title":{"rendered":"Installing eFORMz on Unix"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>eFORMz requires the following for Unix environments processing the eFORMz merge:<\/p>\n<p><em>Java &#8211; Release 1.8 (or greater) <\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Installation and Upgrade Instructions<\/h2>\n<p>Guide for a linux install &#8211;<a href=\"\/support\/index.php\/linux-install\/\">eFORMz Linux Install<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The following instructions assume you have already installed eFORMz on your PC. The eFORMz Composer will be used to install the needed components on your Unix system.\u00a0 Use your administrative tools to create a user for the eFORMz service. In the following steps &#8216;eformz&#8217; is the name used.<\/p>\n<p>1. From your host machine login as Administrator (root) and create the following directory:<\/p>\n<pre>mkdir minisoft<\/pre>\n<p>2.\u00a0Create a Minisoft user account (enter password at prompts):<\/p>\n<pre>useradd minisoft; passwd minisoft<\/pre>\n<p>Change the attributes of the Minisoft directory to the following:<\/p>\n<pre>chmod 755 minisoft\nchown minisoft minisoft<\/pre>\n<p>3. Open the eFORMz Composer on your PC and select the Host Tools menu. From the menu selection select Unix &gt; Install eFORMz.<\/p>\n<p>4. The Unix logon screen will appear. Enter your host IP address, user name, and password and then click Connect. If using a Secure Shell account, check the Use SSH option and identify the known_hosts file if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>5. The Unix Install dialog box displays. By default, the eFORMz_6 folder is the directory eFORMz will be selecting the installation files from. The default install directory on your host system is the minisoft directory under root.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7581 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/alt2.minisoft.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Login.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"402\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/minisoft.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Login.jpg 402w, https:\/\/minisoft.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Login-268x300.jpg 268w, https:\/\/minisoft.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Login-134x150.jpg 134w, https:\/\/minisoft.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Login-250x280.jpg 250w, https:\/\/minisoft.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Login-161x180.jpg 161w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 402px) 100vw, 402px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>6. Click OK to start the installation process.\u00a0<strong>NOTE:<\/strong> If you change the default install location of the Windows piece, \\minisoft\\eFORMz_6, the \u201cInstall From\u201d field needs to be updated. The Progress dialog box will display.
